TIDAL’s New Owner Jay-Z Announces His Vision For High Quality Music #TidalforAll

Jay-Z tonight outlined his vision as the new owner of TIDAL in a live streamed broadcast to the planet.

In case you haven’t heard of TIDAL before, it’s essentially a music streaming service, but unlike services like Spotify that play compressed files, TIDAL delivers high-fidelity sound.

Alicia Keys presented an artist owned music streaming format to create a better experience for artists and fans alike, with a goal of preserving the importance of high quality music for all.

Accompanying headline owner Jay-Z on stage were (incredibly) Madonna, Beyoncé, Win Butler (Arcade Fire), Calvin Harris, Chris Martin, Jack White (looking super slicked cool), Daft Punk (helmeted), Usher (very cool), Kanye West (looking even cooler), Nicki Minaj and Rihanna among others.

In turn the artists above signed a declaration of intent to the future of quality music.

Earlier today TIDAL also launched an entry-level tier at $9.99 per month, with their high-fidelity streaming offering at $19.99 per month.

I am mid-forties, married with young children, but retired from work through a severe stroke that has left me restricted in movement but with plenty of time to listen, watch, opine and review. My interests include, in no particular order, music, streaming and hi-resolution music, books and film. My latest interest centres around exploring vinyl on my hi-fi.
