Samsung Galaxy S7 fingerprint scanner not working? Here’s how to fix it

The fingerprint scanner on the Samsung Galaxy S7 performs nicely when you make full contact with it, but in my recent few weeks with the device I’ve noticed that it often rejects my fingerprint. It’s a frustrating and inconsistent experience!

If you’re going through a similar problem with your Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone and its fingerprint scanner, I’d recommend removing your old fingerprints and creating new ones. This time around though, I want you to create the fingerprints a different way.

While the Galaxy S7 scans your fingerprint, keep rotating your thumb at different angles; sideways, diagonally, and of course vertically. Also try to scan just the tips of your thumb on the scanner in these different positions.

Doing this will allow the fingerprint scanner on the Samsung S7 to learn your fingerprint, so that even if you only partially press the scanner (rather than making full contact with your entire thumb), it does a better job of unlocking.

After trying this for myself I’ve noticed a slight improvement in the fingerprint scanner, so I hope it helps you too!
